Here are a few jobs on stairs I have done. Stairs are particularly satisfying to work on because one sees a right mess of old paint, nails, staples and ancient carpet rod holders, then, as if by Magic it all becomes new again, well better than new because now the wood has acquired a patina and real character.
The most interesting stairs I ever renovated were trod by John Keats the romantic poet. He moved in in 1820, for a year or so before going to The Vale of Health then on to Rome, to die. I might put those photos up sometime, they are on ordinary film.
