A large child's bedroom/study. The customer was very concerned with the thick, black, lead paint around the room. I use machines that keep most of the dust within their dust-bags, including the machines I use for corners, and also machines that link directly to the dust-extractor. I asked to customer to watch me for 2 minutes when I started sanding to prove there was no dust blowing about. Lead can make kids hyper-active apparently. You need a lot of exposure for this to happen of course, as with the poor kids living near Spagetti Junction, in Birmingham. This is why we have lead free petrol now.
The tiles on the hearth are the original old Victorian ones, therefore great care was needed when sanding near them. I put thick tape on their edges so I get a warning if I'm getting too close. The photo of the door below shows the correct way to seal a door.....both inside and out, top and bottom. The bottom tape must be removed before varnishing, otherwise it marks the wet varnish when closing.
